Çoruh River Basin Rehabilitation Project — Monitoring & Evaluation System
For the integrated watershed rehabilitation project carried out across 12 micro-catchments in Artvin, Erzurum and Bayburt, we developed and applied a monitoring and evaluation methodology. Working with academics, we built a model for watershed monitoring systems covering financial and thematic indicators, and developed the GIS-based web software that operates it. The software was the key instrument for comparing baseline conditions against outcomes: afforestation, erosion control, pasture rehabilitation and income-generating activities were tracked both spatially and financially, and the socio-economic and environmental impacts of project outcomes were analyzed across multiple dimensions.
